Hey Everyone! Welcome back to The Tireless Tangler! It is time for Adele Bruno’s weekly “It’s a String Thing” challenge. This week’s challenge included a string with loops and 2 great tangles, the Zentangle ® Original tangle, Diva Dance and CZT, Lynn Mead’s Abeko. As always, you can join the “String Thing” challenge at Adele Bruno’s blog, Tickledtotangle! Here’s my tile!
Also, this week, I published the next in my series on Celtic Knots! You can find an edited version on my new Instagram TV channel, in addition to the full version on YouTube! I hope you enjoy it!
Hi everyone! There seems to be no Diva Challenge again this week. I’m hoping they are enjoying a vacation and that no one is sick! I’m sure we will see her back again soon!
In the meantime, Zentangle ® brought us Project Pack 3 (https://zentangle.com/collections/project-packs/products/zentangle-project-pack-no-03) this weekend and I’m so excited to share it with you all.
I happened to have the necessary supplies for this project and didn’t need to buy the pack.
Each video is short and brings great new insights to existing tangles. I love these videos. I’ll be doing another mosaic on Renaissance tiles.
Here is my mosaic followed by links for each of the 9 videos! I hope you enjoy them as much as I!
Also, I received my welcome kit for CZT 32! I’ve paid in $745.00 already and need to raise the final payment of $750.00 by August 28, 2018. Thanks again for all your support! 🌸 My fundraising efforts will need to increase for the next 2 months, please be patient! I will try hard not to spam everyone! Here are some pictures of my welcome package!
Hi everyone! Welcome to The Tireless Tangler! It’s been a slow week with no Diva Challenge, but Adele Bruno at Tickledtotangle.blogspot.com, gave me a wonderful gift with this week’s challenge! CZT, Helen Williams, was a strong influence when I first started drawing. Her organic style really speaks to me and I am a big fan of Helen’s Tangles! This week’s challenge was to try out Helen’s new video “String Grid.”
Here are 2 of my many, many tiles. I’m addicted! I challenge you all to give it a try!
A quick note for everyone. I’ve got a tough anniversary coming up in a few weeks. I’ve already noticed that I am struggling to concentrate and dwelling on things a bit too much. I want to promise I will be able to force my way through this tough time without a break, but I can’t. If for some reason I am unable to post for a while, I will let you know. I can promise I’ll be back. Hang in there with me! Thanks for understanding!
Welcome to the Tireless Tangler! It’s time again for this week’s diva challenge 365? This week’s challenge was labeled 364, same as last week. It good to know I’m not the only one that does that! So, let’s call this 364/b. This is a Monotangle week, meaning a tile using just one tangle. The diva chose Puf by Carole Ohl, a fun variation on Bales. If you’re interested in joining the Diva’s challenge, start here!
I also managed to finish my latest tutorial video on drawing Celtic Crosses! Please forgive the desk clutter! I’m trying to reorganize and things took on a life of their own! Here’s some of the art I created for the video!
I’d love to see what you guys do with this so please remember to tag me #thetirelesstangler!
Hey Y’all! Welcome back to the Tireless Tangler! I’m crazy late this week with everything! My son successfully (yay!!) completed 2nd grade with a stellar performance in his school musical as Derio the pig! This was his first ever performance and first speaking part and he did awesome! He has also achieved his Kung Fu green belt, and started his sparring classes this week! That boy was obsessed with his new mouthguard! I guess that’s the boy version of ballerina slippers? 😂 I was SO proud of this young man who has overcome so much and is beginning to shine! Congratulations my little man! I’m so proud of you!
During the chaos of the end of school, I’ve still been creating like a mad woman, I just haven’t had the time to write and post like I should! The other incredible thing is that my gofundme for my trip to CZT 32 has reached the halfway point! What an amazing group of people you all are! Thank you, not only for the donations but for those who couldn’t donate but still sent me messages of support! I’m energized by the knowledge that this will happen and I’m totally stoked! There will be an upcoming post on what is going on with CZT 32!
On to this week’s Diva Challenge! This week, we were challenged to “remake a classic”. Basically, take a tile from the past and do a new version. Check out the Diva’s post here!
Here is the first tile I ever uploaded onto the Zentangle Mosaic App! It was a design by Deliberately Creative’s, Stephanie Bergeron. Stephanie has an amazing set of Gem Tutorials on YouTube you should check out!
And here’s my remake for this week’s challenge! What fun to revisit your artistic journey!
Because I was late this week, here’s my tile for “It’s a String Thing” 244. This week we revisited the Zentangle ® Original Tangle AuraKnot with a simple star shaped string. I embellished this to leave an “A” stand out in honor of Adele’s name! A happy accident!
I didn’t get my Celtic Cross video ready in time but expect a new tutorial up on Tuesday (God Willing! Summer is busy!)
Hi everyone and welcome to the Tireless Tangler! It is time for our weekly Diva Challenge and I have a new pattern tutorial on “Circe” by Staub Korn.
This week, the Diva challenges us to “aura”. Auras are simple ways to enhance tangles by simple adding new lines inside or outside that match, which adds interest. This week I chose a ZenGem and stuck with simple lines and orbs.
I have fallen in love with the pattern Circe by Staub Korn! It’s good that I liked it so much because it took me some time to figure it out! I wanted to reproduce it so my motivation was high! Here are 2 tiles from the videos.
I used these supplies for the video:
Zentangle ® Renaissance tile with https://zentangle.com/collections/square-paper-tiles/products/square-tiles-renaissance
Pigma Micron 01 brown https://amzn.to/2rHQG8D
Crayola Super Tips water based markers https://amzn.to/2rHPTEH
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils https://amzn.to/2Gg76d3.
Finally, my diva challenge post was quite late last week, so I wanted to share this again and let you all know how blessed I am to be a part of a community that is so encouraging and supportive! In less than one week, I’m almost halfway to my $2250.00 goal! I really believe my dream of becoming a CZT is going to come true! Each of you that donated and supported me, I am truly grateful for the validation of what I want to accomplish! You help me feel worthy! Thank you! If you would like to support me or to get more information, just click the links below!
The Diva Challenge this week took an interesting turn when I applied Eni Oken’s Tangle Enhancers Card Game. The Diva, Laura Harms, challenged us this week to “Use My Tangle” with her pattern “Somnee”. Somnee is a similar pattern to Zentangle’s “Hollibaugh” and I needed some inspiration to dress it up a bit. I used Copic markers for color, and Prismacolor Pencils for shading. Luckily, I have Eni Oken’s new card game, “Art and Tangle Game“! This game is designed to guide creativity when you’re not sure what direction to take and it worked! I chose 3 Tangle Enhancers. Line weight and rounding, fancy border and color a lá line interrupted. If you struggle sometimes knowing what to do next, I highly recommend Eni’s card game. You can find it here!
And here’s my finished tile!
One last thing I want to share with you this week! I have been given the opportunity to attend CZT 32 (Certified Zentangle Teacher training) in October! I’m so excited about this opportunity! Unfortunately, I have to now raise $2250.00 to pay for the trip! Because I live on disability, and am a single parent, raising that much money is a challenge!
This last week, Eni Oken suggested I start a gofundme campaign. Eni generously donated herself, but then went above and beyond by sharing the campaign in her Shading Fearlessly group. In one day, I’d raised more than $500.00! My secret passion for becoming a CZT changed from a distant hope to confidence as I sent $500.00 to Zentangle, Inc, yesterday! My deepest gratitude goes out to all the people who have donated! A very special thanks to Eni Oken for giving me the confidence to create and promote the campaign! As of this post, I’ve raised $655.00!
Could you help me reach this goal?
Welcome back everyone! It has been a really difficult week this week as my tangling was interrupted when I filmed my video on Sunday morning. I didn’t realize the effect that the sun shining on my shoulder meant the sun was also shining on the surface of the iPad. So, of course being the smart thing it is, it turned itself off! Unfortunately, that made editing very difficult because I couldn’t complete it on one device! IPads and androids are not good friends! So this week I have been working between my small phone and my barely working iPad to get this long video edited. It’s been edited by two different devices and that is making everything choppy. I apologize in advance for the poor quality! The sound is up and down but it is also captioned!
But you are not here for my video! you are here for the diva challenge. This week’s diva challenge number 361, is an Earth Day theme, as it has the last two years, and we tangled on the back of boxes i.e. cereal boxes pizza boxes etc. the ones that have the nice brown back. I have to say I love this challenge! Nothing gets my creativity rolling like tangling on cardboard. I made three tiles but I’m only going to share my last one. There are many tangles included here.
Joki, bales, purk, sandswirl, fassett, flux, Printemps, shattuck, fife, p’kok and my new obsession, circe!
This is the project in the tutorial this week. It is done on a black Zentangle Zendala tile. If anyone gives it a try, please tag me in it on Instagram or Facebook @thetirelesstangler or else where #thetirelesstangler
Lastly, i started a new artistic endeavor for dear friend Amanda Rose Rambo at #vitruvianart! She was looking for Colorists for her coloring books and I thought I’d give it a try if I can block in the time for it! Here’s my first try from Amanda’s coloring book Gemstones volume 4 found here at Amazon!
We will have to wait on the Diva’s challenge. Laura Harms has not released a challenge this week, so instead, I wanted to share my newest video tutorial on Celtic Knots. This week’s video focuses on a single simple knot called Triquetra. This knot is one of the oldest, being seen in artwork as old as 500 BC.
Triquetra means 3 corners. This knot has a pagan mythology as well as a Christian one. It is commonly called the trinity knot or love knot and is a repeating motif in illuminated manuscripts, mosaics, metalwork and jewelry designs from the time of the Roman Empire.
Get to know Triquetra!
This week’s challenge from CZT, Laura Harms, was to use our fingers as a guide for the string. You can join in at the Diva’s website, iamthedivaczt.com.
I actually thought this was going to be an easy challenge but for some strange reason, I couldn’t find just the “right” tangles. I drew the string 3 times and I’ll show you 2 of them. I felt pretty “meh” about them, but finished anyway. Here they are.
Lastly, I have a new step-out video for my first pattern, Apcorg. It includes a digitally drawn step-out and a hand drawn example of Apcorg in a 4 square setup, perfect for a focal point. I hope you enjoy!
